The time is NOW for your school to join the Missouri Association of Student Councils and take advantage of all we have to offer. MASC is sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) and is affiliated with National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). It is a voluntary membership organization, which provides leadership training activities for member schools. Mem-bership is open to all junior high, middle, and high schools both public and private.

The MASC Executive Board is made up of an Executive Director, 7 District Board Members (elected every 3 years), president school advisor, past president school advisors and 3 representatives from MASSP. Membership dues are $100 per school, and must be paid by December 31 for a school to be a MEMBER AND TO BE CONSIDERED FOR HONOR COUNCIL AWARD. Schools who pay dues after December 31 will be considered NON-MEMBERS and pay a higher rate for all MASC events. Schools should complete a membership form and mail or fax with school check or purchase order. Advisors have the option to join the MASC List Serve (E-mail Executive Director Terri Johnson for more information) to get all the latest in MASC news and information. Member status is updated on the list serve on a monthly basis.

Join or renew your MASC membership

MASC’s mission is to provide programs and resources that develop positive student leaders and advisors who will promote a quality school and community environment.

MASC chose Special Olympics as our charity of choice nearly 15 years ago. Since that time we have been raising funds and awareness across the state and among our membership.

Member schools are encouraged to assist with Special Olympics events in their areas. Many of our schools host recruiting parties for athletes, assist at events, do fundraisers, act as coaches, provide moral support and include athletes in their own student council activities.

The past several years, MASC and the state president schools have introduced Special Olympic athletes and coaches at the state convention. In addition, a donation has been made to Special Olympics. Last school year MASC member schools raised nearly $60,000 for SOMO and performed 12,000 hours of volunteer service.

Our efforts give Missouri Special Olympians an advantage. More importantly, our student council members are empowered by being volunteers.
