Scholarships for High School Students

Special Olympic Scholarships to attend Summer Leadership Workshop

Special Olympics is giving two student scholarships per District. One for a high school student and one for a middle school student. Please go to your District Website to complete the REQUIRED District Scholarship. You must have helped or participated as a volunteer in Special Olympics to receive this award. If you have questions, contact your District Rep. Phone and email are located on each District page.

Horatio Alger Scholarship (State & National Winners)

Available for 2011 graduating seniors who have overcome obstacles in their life. Scholarship applications available August 1 to October 30, 2010. Missouri awards 50 scholarships at $2,500. The national scholarship winner will receive $20,000 to attend college.

Missouri Institute of Summer Leadership Scholarship (Fulton)

These scholarships cover the cost of full registration to attend the Summer Leadership Camp at William Woods University in Fulton. Value of scholarships are $350 each and available in the Spring Newsletter.

Nona Hyde-Lenora Younger Scholarship

Provides full registration and $100 travel expense the Missouri Institute of Summer Leadership in Fulton. Any student in grades 9-11 may apply. One candidate per school. Interviews will be conducted at the State Convention in March. The nominee must be one of your State Delegates.

Marvin Fleming Memorial Scholarship

A full scholarship to the MASC Workshop in June at William Woods University. One candidate per school. A letter of recommendation from student council advisor nominating student's qualities and experiences.

Mel Guemmer Memorial Scholarship

A full scholarship to the MASC Workshop in June at William Woods University. Student must participate in Student Council and Varsity Sports. One nominee allowed per school. A letter of recommendation from student council advisor outlining student's leadership qualities. Verification of varsity letter from a coach or athletic director. Letters of nominations should be mailed to MASC office, along with the application.

Dennis Lock Scholarship

A full scholarship to MASC Workshop in June at William Woods University. This scholarship is sponsored by Lindbergh High School in honor of former Missouri Executive Director, Dennis Lock. Please write a of letter of recommendation for this student outlining his/her leadership potential. Completed letters of recommendations must be sent to MASC Executive Director Terri Johnson by March 1.

Kevin "Cubby" Houska Scholarship

A full scholarship to MASC Workshop in June at William Woods University. This scholarship is sponsored by Mehlville High School in memory of former Student Council member and Junior Counselor (JC).

Excellence Through Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the Missouri Society of Association Executives. Two outstanding student council leaders will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship. Each MASC member school can nominate one senior—preferably your president or other officer.
